Green Schools Network

The Green Schools Network is an ideas sharing/problem solving working group for schools and colleges across Manchester looking to take climate action.

Sessions are focused on one key topic, with information from experts, chance for discussion and case studies. The network also highlights current projects and funding streams in this area. This aids schools and colleges to take climate action as part of their individual climate action plans, which the Department of Education has stated every setting needs by 2025.

The group share ideas around all the big issues, including Procurement, Energy Consumption and Active Travel. Minutes from network meetings are uploaded to a website for Manchester’s schools, alongside any useful resources linked to each session. Various schools and colleges have supported Manchester City Council (MCC) in establishing this network:

  • Prospect House Primary Specialist Support School
  • Our Lady’s RC High School
  • St Peter’s RC High
  • Connell College
  • Loreto College
  • St Margaret’s CofE Primary School
  • Whalley Range High School
  • Chorlton High School
  • Longsight Community Primary School

The network is also supported by Manchester Environmental Education Network (Manchester Environmental Education Network (meen.org.uk)
